Looking for Avéli in the UK? Why CelluSmooth® Goes Further

Short answer: Avéli is not currently available in the UK. At the time of writing, its manufacturer lists it in the United States, Colombia, the UAE and Australia only. If you are in London and want what Avéli does, releasing the fibrous bands that pull the skin down into dimples, CelluSmooth® does that too, and goes further.

CelluSmooth® is Dr Hasan Benar's one-session cellulite protocol combining ultrasound assessment, medical subcision and skin booster.

What Avéli is

Avéli (developed by Revelle Aesthetics, now part of Tiger Aesthetics) received FDA clearance in October 2021 and an extended clearance for long-term cellulite reduction in September 2022, supported by data through one year. It is a handheld device for what is called targeted verifiable subcision. Under local anaesthetic, the device is passed beneath the skin, an integrated light shows the tip's position, a blunt hook catches a band and recreates the dimple on the surface, and a retractable blade releases it. The pivotal study (Stevens et al., Aesthetic Surgery Journal, 2022; 74 women) reported improvement in 95.6% of patients at three months, with mostly mild side effects such as bruising and tenderness.

Avéli is a well-designed device. But it does one thing: it releases bands. It does not assess the skin before treatment, and it does nothing for the skin itself.

What CelluSmooth® adds

CelluSmooth® releases the same bands, and adds the two things a device on its own does not:

1. Ultrasound assessment before treatment. The bands responsible for your dimples are mapped before the procedure starts, so the plan is built around your own anatomy rather than a standard pattern.

2. Medical subcision performed by hand. A doctor-guided instrument adapts to each dimple at any depth or angle, including closely spaced dimples, mixed depths and bands that a single-design hook may not catch cleanly.

3. Skin booster in the same session. Releasing bands improves dimples, but it does not improve thin or lax skin. The skin booster works on skin quality in the same visit. Neither Avéli nor Cellfina addresses this.

CelluSmooth® vs Avéli, side by side

Availability in the UK: Avéli is not currently offered. CelluSmooth® is available at 54 Harley Street, London.

Releases the bands that cause dimples: both.

Planning: Avéli identifies bands during the procedure with a light-guided hook. CelluSmooth® maps them with ultrasound before treatment, then confirms each release by touch.

Skin quality and laxity: Avéli does not treat it. CelluSmooth® includes a skin booster in the same session.

Number of sessions: one for both.

Who performs it: CelluSmooth® is always performed by Dr Hasan Benar, a dermatologist with more than 1,000 cellulite subcision cases.

Evidence: Avéli has one pivotal study with follow-up through one year. Subcision has been described in the medical literature since 2000, and the same mechanism is supported by Cellfina's five-year data.

Downtime: similar for both, with bruising for one to a few weeks and normal activities within a day or two.

Why I prefer this approach

In more than 1,000 cases, I have found that a good result does not depend on the tool that confirms a band. It depends on judgement: which bands to release, how deeply, when to stop, and whether the skin itself needs treatment. A light and a hook confirm what an experienced doctor already finds by touch. Ultrasound shows me the bands before I begin, and the skin booster treats the part of cellulite that cutting bands alone cannot reach. That is why CelluSmooth® combines all three in one session.

Frequently asked questions

Is Avéli available in the UK? Not at the time of writing. The manufacturer lists the United States, Colombia, the UAE and Australia. In London, CelluSmooth® releases the same bands in one session.

Is CelluSmooth® the same as Avéli? Both release the fibrous bands that cause dimples. CelluSmooth® adds ultrasound assessment beforehand and a skin booster in the same session, and is performed by hand by a dermatologist.

Do I need to travel abroad for Avéli? No. CelluSmooth® uses the same band-release principle in a single session on Harley Street.

Are the results permanent? Released bands do not reattach. New dimples can form over time with weight change or ageing.

Does it hurt? Both are done under local anaesthetic. Most patients describe pressure rather than pain.
